3 STOREY EXTENSION ALLOWED TO CAUSEWAY TAVERN, LISNAGUNOGUE.

3 STOREY EXTENSION ALLOWED TO CAUSEWAY TAVERN, LISNAGUNOGUE.

MKA Planning Ltd have recently won a planning appeal for a 3 storey extension to the Causeway Tavern, a two storey high public house and B+B to provide additional guest accommodation.

This was retrospective application which the Council had refused due to the extension’s scale and design within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and as its created unacceptable overlooking of the adjacent residential property.

The Commissioner concluded that the proposed was not detrimental to the surrounding areas of the AONB, that the scale of the extension was proportionate with the host building and that any overlooking issue could be resolved by obscured glazing.

The Commissioner allowed the appeal with various planning conditions.
